Heimtextil Colombia, held for the first time in Latin America, concluded its inaugural event with over 4,500 specialized visitors, including 1,200 national and international buyers, and 118 exhibitors. The three-day tradeshow, licensed by Messe Frankfurt, showcased opportunities in home textiles, interior design, and hospitality, and is expected to generate significant business opportunities in the short and medium term.
The event connected key players in the textile and interior design industries from Colombia with leading companies from Latin America, Europe, and Asia. This convergence highlighted Colombia's capacity to engage in a global market worth $1.2 billion. "Heimtextil Colombia has established itself in Latin America. This edition showcased a blend of Colombian brand identity with international production capabilities," stated Sebastián Díez, CEO of Inexmoda.
Inexmoda's strategy to internationalize the Colombian Fashion System and boost industry competitiveness also strengthens Colombia and Medellin as strategic destinations for business, design, creativity, and culture. According to Medellin's government, the tradeshow generated an economic benefit of over $2,000 million from the participation of exhibitors, buyers, and specialized visitors.
The event featured 118 exhibitors, with 60% being international and 40% national, presenting innovative and sustainable home textiles, furniture, and decoration products. Notable participants included companies from Argentina, Brazil, China, India, Italy, Pakistan, Singapore, Spain, and Turkey, along with prominent Colombian brands from Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, and Barranquilla.
Heimtextil Colombia also facilitated cultural exchange, networking, and knowledge-sharing among 1,200 buyers from the Americas, Europe, and Asia. This highlighted the competitive potential of Colombia's industry, rooted in its unique identity, biodiversity, material diversity, quality, creativity, and strategic location.
Inexmoda, with over 50 years of experience, added a Latin-American flair to the event with spaces like 'Creative Colombia' and 'Kitchen by Heimtextil'. Leonor Hoyos, Connection Platforms director at Inexmoda, emphasized the distinctive value of Colombian creativity and design. 'Creative Colombia' showcased 10 Colombian brands, and the kitchen space offered cooking experiences integrated with home textiles and local culture.
The event's "Knowledge Set" included 14 conferences on hospitality, future habitats, sustainable business strategies, and consumer-focused product inspiration. The "Trends Forum" presented three trends for the 2024/2025 season, inspired by nature, technology, and biotechnology.
Heimtextil Colombia underscores Inexmoda's commitment to internationalizing Colombian brands and companies by exploring new categories that highlight the country's unique identity and creativity.
